Job Title: Key Account Manager – Northern Region

Reports to: National Sales Manager

Working hours: 37 per week

Role Overview

The Key Account Manager will take ownership of growing strategic customer relationships and securing new framework agreements across the Northern region, with a strong focus on the General Industrial and Fire Protection sectors. This role is responsible for promoting and selling a full suite of services — including planned and reactive maintenance, repair, overhaul, upgrades, and field-based engineering solutions — to end users of pumps, valves and other rotating equipment.

Close collaboration with Service Centres, Field Service Coordinators and Field Service Engineers is essential to ensure accurate job planning, prioritisation, and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop key accounts, including legacy Fire and Field Service contracts, ensuring strong customer retention and growth.
  • Expand the Field Service portfolio by identifying new service opportunities — such as shutdown support, on-site manpower solutions, and wider engineering service requirements.
  • Drive revenue growth across Fire sector end users and broader industrial customers within the region.
  • Lead the end-to-end process for framework renewals, PQQs, RFIs and contractual documentation through to final agreement.
  • Provide administrative, commercial and marketing support to the National Sales Manager when required.
  • Produce regular reports and updates for senior leadership, summarising performance, progress and opportunities.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times and technical proposals to deliver competitive yet profitable solutions.
  • Conduct onsite visits and client meetings across the region to strengthen relationships and uncover new business.
  • Review and interpret sales data (via Salesforce) to identify new prospects, trends and growth areas.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times, consistently demonstrating and promoting brand values.
  • Ensure full adherence to corporate policies, processes and compliance requirements.
  • Achieve agreed KPIs and contribute to the wider success of the national sales function.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven background in sales, commercial operations, or marketing.
  • Strong understanding of the UK Water and Fire sectors.
  • Hands-on experience managing large service framework agreements.
  • Solid engineering foundation, ideally with exposure to after-sales support, maintenance and repair of pumps, valves, and other rotating machinery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Confident presenter with strong negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Demonstrates strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
