Apply for this job

I am delighted to be working with a boutique consultancy, delivering end-to-end bespoke solutions across Data, Cloud and AI for their clients. In this position as a Data Platform Architect, you will be pivotal to both the company and the client, owning the design, evolution, and governance of the data platform. This role goes beyond hands-on engineering—you will define architecture and system design, guide implementation through internal teams and external vendors, and drive the platform with a strong product mindset. You will operate at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, data engineering, platform engineering, and regulated environments, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business outcomes. For this position, you will be expected to work on-site with the client in a hybrid model, in London. My client is offering a competitive package, in the region of £100,000 - £130,000 plus a competitive benefits package.

For this position as the Data Platform Architect, your role will shift throughout the project. Initially, your time will be spent being hands-on in building the platform and designing the Architecture/Data, with 20% of your time managing external clients. As the project ramps up and the team grows, you will shift the hands-on responsibilities to more of a focus on client/stakeholder and project management, with the Architecture and Data planning remaining key throughout your role. Your key responsibilities will be: Architecture & System Design, Platform Engineering & Product Mindset, Cloud & Infrastructure, Client Relationship & Project Management, and Leadership & Collaboration.

I am looking for highly motivated problem solvers who have a strong hands-on Software Engineering background in large data systems, complex architecture and managing both projects and stakeholders. If you have the following experience, then I would love to talk to you about this role and my client in more detail:

Senior Technical Leadership – Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related), 7+ years of production software development, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

Cloud & Data Platform Expertise – Strong experience designing, building, and operating cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred), including deep knowledge of relevant AWS services and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).

Strong Engineering Background – Hands-on expertise in OOP Python for HPC/Parallel Programming and modern web development frameworks, with solid software engineering best practices.

Architecture & Systems Thinking – Proven ability to define and drive target-state architectures, balancing scalability, performance, cost, and security at an enterprise level.

Platform & Product Mindset – Experience owning internal platforms used by multiple teams, defining roadmaps, prioritising features, and optimising developer experience and operational excellence.

Regulated Environments & Stakeholder Management – Experience working in regulated industries, managing compliance and governance requirements, and effectively collaborating with vendors and non-technical stakeholders with strong communication skills.

You must have ILR or British Citizenship (Rights to work in the UK without sponsorship) for this position due to the end client and nature of the work.
