Job Title: Corporate Tax Manager

Salary: Circa 65k

Location: Reading (Hybrid)

Reports to: Head of Tax / Finance Director

Department: Corporate Tax


Role Overview

The Corporate Tax Manager will oversee all aspects of corporate tax compliance, reporting, and advisory for the organisation. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with tax regulations, optimising the company’s tax position, and providing strategic guidance on tax planning and risk management. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex tax matters to non-specialist stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Manage the preparation and submission of accurate and timely corporate tax returns.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under IFRS/UK GAAP.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation and filing requirements.

Tax Planning & Strategy:

  • Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimise the group’s effective tax rate.
  • Provide proactive advice on the tax implications of business decisions, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.
  • Support transfer pricing documentation and related-party transaction reviews.

Advisory & Stakeholder Support:

  • Partner with senior leadership, finance, and legal teams to advise on tax-efficient structures and commercial initiatives.
  • Liaise with external advisors and tax authorities on audits, queries, and rulings.
  • Deliver clear and concise communication of tax issues to non-financial stakeholders.

Process & Controls:

  • Maintain strong internal controls over tax processes and ensure adherence to governance frameworks.
  • Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives within tax reporting systems.
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the organisation’s tax position.

Team Leadership (if applicable):

  • Supervise and develop junior members of the tax team, fostering technical growth and collaboration.


Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CTA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in corporate tax, ideally within a large corporate or Big Four environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax law and accounting standards.
  • Experience with tax accounting, compliance systems, and process automation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
