Senior SQL Database Administrator (Contract)

Location: City of London

Start Date: 1st August 2025 (or as close as possible)

Rate: £260 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract Length: (1 Year)

Work Model: Onsite preferred (4–5 days per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our clients team, supporting both project-based initiatives (50%) and business-as-usual (BAU) tasks (50%). This position will involve engineering new solutions, handling version upgrades, and managing data migrations, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of their database environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise SQL Server databases, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Lead version upgrades and data migration projects
• Maintain and enhance backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Support business operations through troubleshooting and performance tuning
• Work collaboratively across teams to develop scalable database solutions
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with data regulations

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience as a SQL Database Administrator in a complex enterprise environment
• Strong expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with database migrations & upgrades
• Knowledge of high availability (HA) & disaster recovery (DR) solutions
• Proficiency in performance optimisation & query tuning

Additional Details

• Security Clearance: Not required, but standard background checks will be conducted
• Contract Duration: Ongoing contract with a daily rate (Inside IR35)
• Work Environment: Primarily onsite (5 days preferred, 4 days negotiable for the right candidate)
