I am working with an AI Tech Start-Up who are developing AI solutions for Engineering benefits, looking for a Senior Back End Engineer. My client is based in London & Cambridge and has a flexible working model. They have a new office space in Cambridge and shared office spaces in London for collaboration with the founders and other teams in the company if you would prefer, however, remote work with monthly meet-ups is acceptable. Alongside a competitive salary, you have the opportunity to get shares in a growing start-up focused on delivery technology to impact everyday life.

As a Senior Back End Engineer, you will join a small team where you can have a large impact on the overall development of the company's software. In this position, you can expect to help shape the product from the ground up, being involved in discussions around architecture, design, choice of languages and technologies, and being hands-on with the development and deployment. As an influential hire in the company, you can expect to mentor, guide and manage junior engineers, work with other teams to deliver projects, take requirements and define a technical specification, work with the business to consider wider operations, as well as work closely with clients and stakeholders.

A key factor in this position will be working with and communicating effectively with offshore development, AI & product teams based in China, Singapore and Asia, for this speaking Mandarin is a must requirement.

For this Senior Back End Engineer position, I am looking for:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineer, or relevant course
• 10+ years of industry experience working on full-stack applications
• Strong hands-on development experience using Node.js, TypeScript, Python
• Use of AI tools: Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot 
• Expert in building backend architecture, system design, site reliability, cloud security, etc
• Experience in 3D Vector Graphics: WebGL OpenGL
• Previous industry experience in computer graphics or computer vision projects a plus
• Led teams and worked directly with client with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally
• Worked on Greenfield projects from start to finish
• Mentored Junior members of staff or direct managerial experience
