Your New Role
Our client is a well-established grounds maintenance contractor delivering high-quality services across a range of client sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and reliable Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to take ownership of site operations while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard.
In this role, you will supervise operatives working within your team and on-site under your remit, ensuring all activities are completed in line with company policies, contract specifications, and client expectations. You will take responsibility for health and safety compliance, adhering to company H&S policies, risk assessments, and COSHH regulations, and escalating any concerns to management where appropriate. You will ensure all site staff wear the correct uniform and PPE in accordance with job requirements and accurately report near misses, accidents, and incidents.
Operationally, you will undertake a full range of grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting, hedge and shrub maintenance, weed spraying (where appropriate), strimming, leaf clearance, litter picking, and general upkeep using commercial pedestrian mowers, hedge cutters, blowers, and other small machinery. You will complete machinery and site pre-start checks, weekly vehicle checks, and job sheets using Geopal, while maintaining compliance for all equipment used on site. You will also take ownership of client site requirements such as signing-in procedures and ensure clear, professional communication with clients and customers at all times. In addition, you will support the business in achieving its environmental and green objectives.
Ensuring Your Success
To succeed in this role, you will have proven experience in grounds maintenance and supervising small teams on-site. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessments and COSHH compliance, and be confident in enforcing standards across your team.
You will be organised, proactive, and capable of working independently while maintaining high-quality standards. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with clients, customers, and internal management. A practical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining machinery and vehicles in excellent working condition will be key. You will also be comfortable using digital systems such as Geopal to complete checks and reporting.
In Return
In return, you will join a supportive and professional organisation that values safety, quality, and teamwork. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your sites, develop leadership skills, and contribute to a business committed to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement. This role offers stability, variety in daily tasks, and the opportunity to work within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
