Your New Role
We are recruiting for a Market Manager to oversee the strategic development and day-to-day operations of a thriving, historic street market in Waterloo, Central London. This is an exciting opportunity to drive growth, increase footfall, attract new traders and develop partnerships while managing budgets, staff, trader relationships and operational performance. Working closely with senior leadership, the market's Board, local businesses and the local authority, you will lead business planning, oversee compliance and daily operations, and develop events and promotional initiatives to enhance the market's offering, including exploring the launch of a new Saturday market.
Ensuring Your Success
To succeed in this role, you will have experience managing a market or similar operational environment, alongside strong budget management and team leadership skills. You will be a strategic and creative thinker with excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities, confident building relationships with traders, local businesses and external stakeholders. Experience working with local authorities, delivering outdoor events, using CRM or project management systems, and knowledge of London's markets would be advantageous. You will be comfortable balancing commercial objectives with operational demands, supporting staff development and maintaining high standards of customer service, safety and compliance.
In Return
You will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on a recognised London destination, shaping its future growth while contributing to the local community and surrounding business environment. You will join a passionate team focused on improving Waterloo for businesses, residents and visitors, with the opportunity to introduce new ideas and develop the market's long-term success. The role offers a salary of £40,000–£50,000 depending on experience, 30 days' paid annual holiday plus UK public holidays, and flexibility to discuss part-time working, job shares or other suitable arrangements.
