Job Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Wills & Inheritance Solicitor to join our Private Client team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of wills, probate, estate planning, and inheritance matters while delivering exceptional client care. You will provide clear legal advice to clients at all stages of life, including those who may be vulnerable, and ensure all work is completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and firm policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and advise on wills, trusts, and lasting powers of attorney.
  • Manage a caseload of probate and estate administration matters, including complex and high-value estates.
  • Advise clients on inheritance tax planning, estate structuring, and asset protection strategies.
  • Handle contentious and non-contentious inheritance matters, including potential disputes and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
  • Liaise with executors, trustees, beneficiaries, financial advisors, and external professionals.
  • Work sensitively and professionally with clients who may be bereaved, elderly, or vulnerable, ensuring appropriate safeguarding measures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate file management in accordance with SRA and firm compliance guidelines.
  • Attend networking events and contribute to the development of the firm’s Private Client offering.
  • Provide supervision or mentoring to junior staff where required.


Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in Private Client, with experience in wills, probate, and inheritance law.
  • Excellent understanding of inheritance tax, trusts, and estate planning principles.
  • Ability to handle clients with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • STEP qualification or a willingness to work towards it is highly desirable.
